Job Description

The Regular Nurse is a competent and skilled registered nurse responsible for providing direct patient care, implementing nursing care plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. This role utilizes established nursing principles and practices to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. The Regular Nurse demonstrates sound clinical judgment, effective communication, and a commitment to professional growth within their nursing practice.

Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Care:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on individualized care plans and established standards of practice.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and emotional status, and document findings accurately and timely.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately via various routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous) according to physician orders and facility policies.
  • Perform a variety of nursing procedures, including wound care, catheterization, medication administration, and specimen collection.
  • Monitor patients' responses to interventions and treatments, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Provide comfort measures and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plan, medications, and self-care strategies.
  • Assist with patient mobility, ambulation, and transfers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all nursing care provided.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Participate in nursing rounds and patient care conferences.
  • Report significant changes in patient condition or concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Advocate for patient needs and preferences.
  • Participate in shift reports to ensure continuity of care.

Clinical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the delivery of patient care.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to guide nursing interventions.
  • Maintain competency in required nursing skills and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant medical equipment and technology.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.

Professional Development & Accountability:

  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice through ongoing professional development activities, including continuing education and in-services.
  • Adhere to the ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and identify goals for professional growth.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated competency in basic and intermediate nursing skills relevant to the unit.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant technology.
