Job Description
The Junior Nurse is a newly licensed or less experienced registered nurse who provides direct patient care under the guidance and supervision of senior nursing staff. This role focuses on developing clinical skills, applying nursing knowledge, and contributing to a safe and supportive patient care environment. The Junior Nurse is committed to learning, professional growth, and providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
- Provide basic nursing care to patients as directed by the nursing care plan and under the supervision of senior nurses.
- Perform routine patient assessments, including vital signs, and document findings accurately and timely.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Administer medications via various routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous - as competency allows and under supervision).
- Perform basic wound care and dressing changes as directed.
- Collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report observations to senior nursing staff and physicians.
- Assist with patient mobility and ambulation.
- Document all nursing care provided in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with senior nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Report patient concerns and needs to the appropriate team members.
- Participate in nursing rounds and patient care conferences.
- Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with patients, families, and colleagues.

- Actively participate in orientation and training programs.
- Seek guidance and mentorship from senior nursing staff.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and procedures.
- Attend and participate in unit meetings, in-service education, and continuing education opportunities.

- Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment.

- Report any errors or near misses according to facility guidelines.
