Develop and implement portfolio management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Define and prioritize projects and programs within the portfolio based on strategic value and resource availability.
Conduct portfolio-level risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of multiple projects and programs within the portfolio.
Ensure consistent application of project management methodologies and standards.
Monitor portfolio performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions as needed.
Manage portfolio budgets and resources effectively.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
Manage, oversee, and/or coordinate portfolio(s) of multiple projects programmes and projects.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including project teams, senior management, and external partners.
Provide regular portfolio status updates and reports to stakeholders.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across project teams.
Deliver training and capacity-building workshops on project management topics.
Promote best practices in project management across the organization.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the Project Management Office (PMO) processes and tools.
Utilize project management, performance tracking tools, data analysis, and information management systems.
Plan and implement change projects within a project-based organization.
Education and Experience
A Master's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, International Relations or related fields is required.
A combination of a Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, International Relations or related field with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the education requirements outlined above.
A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant and progressive professional experience, specifically in the field of Project Management is required;
A minimum of two (2) years experience leading multidisciplinary, multicultural teams is required;
A minimum of two (2) years experience managing; overseeing; and/or coordinating portfolio(s) of multiple projects programmes and projects is required;
Experience delivering training/ capacity building workshops in project management topics is a distinct advantage;
Previous experience of working Within a PMO environment is an advantage;
Experience working on infrastructure projects is highly desirable;
Previous experience in a UN Environment is highly desired;
Experience with project management, performance tracking tools, data analysis, and information management systems is highly desirable;
Experience working in post-conflict (or active conflict) environments is highly desirable;
Proven experience in planning and implementing change projects within a project-based organization;
Demonstrated experience working with Government MDAs on Donor-Funded projects is an asset;
Familiar with web-based applications and Google-Suite products, especially google docs, sheets, slides and forms is an asset.
Certification
Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent is an advantage
Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent an advantage
Language
Fluency in written and spoken English is required
Fluency in Amharic is required.
Working knowledge of additional UN Official language is an asset.
