Analyze Geological test holes and RC planned & drilled as per the strategy.
Conduct Weekly updates of the test holes and RC grade control model.
Conduct Weekly reconciliation of actual feed grade against mining block grade.
Establish an ongoing update of all geological grade control procedures and work instructions, a minimum of two per month.
Ensure RC Drilling and Test holes database management and control, and zero backlog.
Ensure that all Geological Maps are as planned, for example, Structure plan, Pit bench face geological mapping, and Ore type pit contact marking.
Performing Geological drill-hole test holes implementation, enforcement, and interpretation.
Ensuring that all pit geological data are collected, recorded, interpreted, and communicated to the mining team to form part of the technical mining decision.
Conduct data management and data assurance in regard to all grade control geology activities including the assurance of the laboratories, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs and data and process validations.
Ensure 100 percent Ore mining blocks pit visit/inspection before and after blasting then waste and ore physical block demarcation. Mine Planning blocks access implementation.
Physical measurement of mining dilution and mining ore-loss, and reporting.
Implementation and management control of systems.
Ensure that 100% trench digging is done to mark geological contacts, waste mining cut marking using spray paint; reef shovel operating running board, and area planning.
Collaborate with Mining Engineers and Planners to agree on how best to extract and utilize the ore reserve.
Responsible for the material destination assignment to either RoM Ore stockpile or waste dump.
Responsible for the Geology daily supervision management control as per shift given responsibilities.
Ensure stockpile identity boards exist, RoM pad management and control, and RoM pad infrastructure management.
Reconcile plant feed plan grade with the actual mining feed grade and implement continuous improvement action plans to achieve budget.
Participate in the evaluation of discipline-specific principles and practice
Establish, manage and sign-of subordinate IDP’s.
Participate and commit to KGM’s formal Mentorship and Coaching programmes ensuring effective skills and knowledge transfer to local peers and/or subordinates.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science with Honors Degree in Geology.
At least seven (7) years of open-pit mining commodity Geology experience of which four (4) years as a grade control production geologist, preferably at remote sites in Africa.
Be in possession of an international driver’s license.
